in 2015 ZTE wants to sell 100 million handsets

While it's true that ZTE is mostly unknown outside of Asia, last year saw the company ship 15 million smartphones, which was enough to make them the 4th largest vendor globally. For 2012, predictions range as high as 50 million units.

This years' MWC saw ZTE announce a veritable slew of devices, led by their upcoming flagship, the ZTE Era. The Era boasts some impressive specs - A Tegra 3 chipset, featuring a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor as well as 1080p video recording and 4.3 inch 540 x 960 pixel display.

ZTE is set to release its Q1 earnings report tomorrow, which is forecasted to reflect a $29 million net profit - a 10% increase over the previous year. Credit Suisse has forecast that smartphone sales will top 1 billion smartphones by 2014, so the target of 100 million per year may be a lot closer to reality than one might think.

Coming soon, Nokia Lumia 900 magenta

The Nokia Lumia 900 has so far been available only across the Atlantic on the AT&T's GSM network. The available color options there are only black and cyan with the cyan version being noticeably more popular.

Recently, we even saw some hints of white units hitting the stores, but so far magenta was only a thing of rumors. Well, no longer as it's officially listed on Nokia's own Facebook page.

The official Nokia websites in Europe and the US still have no mention of the new color, but we guess, that will change once availability hits. Now magenta is technically the company color of AT&T's competitor but the ladies will hardly mind the fact as long as they get the shiny new smartphone in a color matching their purse.

Google Drive fully detailed

We saw all the indicators that Google Drive was going to launch today, and now it’s official. Google Drive will offer 5GB of storage for free, which you can increase up to 16TB, provided you’re willing to pony up the necessary monthly fee. Head past the jump for the full details, including videos.

Google Drive will integrate tightly with Google Docs, allowing you to collaborate with colleagues on documents in real time, as well as being able to share and comment all all types of media (PDF, videos, images, etc). Google will let you access files from anywhere, just like competitors, and is offering mobile apps for iOS and Android. You can now head to the Google Play store to download the app with your Android device – soon you’ll be able to download the app from the web as well. Just search your Google Play App Store on your Android device now for “Google Drive” and it’ll appear!

On top of OCR support, there’s also smart tagging and image recognition. Let’s say you upload an image of a red London bus: the next time you enter the search term “London bus”, the image will show up as a result. You’ll also be able to open up to 30 different kinds of files from your computer’s browser, even if you don’t have the necessary software installed. That includes PDF files, high def video, and images from Illustrator and Photoshop. Naturally, Google is priding itself on security, as well as data retention, plus the company is promising 99.9% uptime.

If you want more storage, Google will gladly sell it to you. 20GB will cost $4 a month, for example, which can be increased all the way up to 16TB. Prices are as follows: 25GB for $2.49/month, 100GB for $4.99/month or even 1TB for $49.99/month. That storage only applies to Google Drive, and documents from Docs aren’t counted towards the final quota. This service is of course also integrated with Google Chrome – check out all the Chrome apps integrated in the Chrome store now!
